Last night, we stepped outside with the Canon 5D mk II and Sigma 70-300 mm lens to capture the supermoon. The moon was not only the biggest, closest and brightest supermoon of this year; it’s the closest the moon has been to earth since January 26, 1948!

Here are a few captures from a family portrait session we did at Loose Park last weekend. Autumn is definitely our favorite season for outdoor photo shoots simply because of the gorgeous scenery (duh!) and it’s comfortable temperatures.
FYI, Loose park is an amazing place to go for photography (or even just to hang out) if you live in the Kansas City area. It’s filled with flourishing rose gardens and willow tree covered bridges. Not to mention, it has a nice variety of scenes in one location…if you don’t mind walking a little bit. Needless to say, it’s one of our favorite spots in the city.
Thanks for hanging out!

Last weekend, Dane and I traveled to the country to photograph a lovely family who are expecting a baby boy in December. The autumn weather couldn’t have been any better and we even got to explore the woods a little bit while we were out there. The abandoned barn and the old bridge gave this entire shoot a rustic vibe and I am in love with it.
One of my favorite parts of this photo shoot was the impromptu flower picking moment shared between the mother and daughter. These are my absolute favorite moments to photograph. Mainly because there is so much more potential there to create a story within the photo which leads to a greater emotional connection with the viewer. So much better than your average posed photograph, in my opinion.
Thanks for hanging out!
